Armagh Stars first ever charity event, was a giant success in more than one way. The club set up their stall in Armagh City Centre this past Saturday (10th) accompanied with a Hockey goal, DJ, cake seller & MC Paul Maclean. It certainly was a first for Armagh City and attracted a lot of attention from the locals curious about what was happening.
There were a number of benefits for donators to enjoy on the day. Every donator got to take a number of shots on 1 of the two goalies present, those who scored received themselves a free adult ticket to a Belfast Giants game, which was kindly donated by the Giants themselves. Those who didn’t fancy trying their luck on the goalie where rewarded with a home baked Chocolate Brownie or cookie, with lucky dip winners receiving free tickets to the Armagh Planetarium.
One of the highlights of the day was the attendance of Giants players Graeme Walton & Gareth Martin, who posed for photos, chatted with fans and tried their luck on the stars goalie in nets. The Stars would like to publicly thank the guys for taking their Saturday afternoon off to come down and help out.
The event was organised to raise money for Action Cancer and also to promote the club & sport in the city. Both of these targets where reached with the event raising just over £300 in the 4 hours they were set up, and with new club members attending the following days practice .
The Stars would like to thank all the people who helped make this event possible for their hard work, and also thank all those who helped us raise the money. |
