The newly formed inline hockey Armagh club held its first official session at the orchard leisure centre this past Sunday the“19th” with a total of 23 keen players taking part. During the hour and a half session, the players where taken through the basics of the game, taught how to skate properly and then enjoyed game action.
This first session followed on from the exhibition day held on Sunday the 12th, when two junior teams from Bangor and Lisburn where in attendance to play an exhibition game,
Over 40 Armagh residents came along to find out what exactly Inline Hockey was. With interested players ranging from 9 years old to 30.
After everyone got a chance to get information about the game, hear the aims of the new club and got to try on equipment, they got a chance to get on court themselves. Both Junior teams remained on court and mingled with all the interested locals, lending them their sticks to allow them to shoot pucks at the heavily padded goalies, and chatting to them about the sport.
The next club session is being held on Sunday the 3rd December at the Orchard Leisure Centre from 4pm- 5:30pm. This session is being split up into two 45 minute sections. The first 45minutes is for players aged 15 years and younger. With the second session being for 16 years and older. Admission is £2. The club has a limited number of spare equipment, including skates, sticks & helmets. These are distributed on a first come first served basis. Prior notice is recommended if requiring skates. You can contact the club organiser on 07779297414 for any information.
